Model Home bedrooms
The best part of being an interior designer is decorating a bedroom! That is when it all comes together. Often when I design a model home I make sure that every one in the family gets a room to represent their interests. Whether it’s a girls or boys room, inlaw or guest room or master suite I make it inviting for the potential buys. Here are three bedrooms that Little Red Riding Hood would feel right at home.
Neutral Wall Color
Often in model homes, I do not have the luxury of picking multiple wall colors. In this home the entire house was painted Accessible beige by Sherwin Williams. The furniture, decor and styling tells the story and sell the house.
Kid Spaces
The first room at the top of the stairs is the smallest room. I chose to stage and furnish it as a little girls room. They say never to go shopping when you’re hungry and this is so true for this room. My inspiration was finding these adorable cake inspired canvas art at Tuesday Morning. For the six canvases I drew a sherbet colored palette of robin eggs blue, hot pink, orange and raspberry. A white twin sleigh bed and nightstand fit perfectly in this pint sized room. I purchased hot pink floral bedding set, orange and turquoise accent pillows & turquoise faux fur blanket. In addition, a bright orange garden stool jumped onto my cart. A dreamy delicious combination of color that makes you want to jump on the bed!
Nautical Decor for Boys
The next room is slightly larger and staged for a boy. A dark paneled bed and nightstand from Raymour and Flanigan anchors the room and gives a masculine tone that can take this boys room into a college room hangout. Chambray blue bedding, and a combination of soft plaids, stripes, and nautical pillows give this room the perfect nautical theme without being too juvenile. I found the perfect sign that reads “Stay calm and surf on”, red side table lamps, extra red throw pillows and a navy and white stripes square pouf ottoman all from HomeGoods. Theres no confusion on which way is the beach!
The Master Suite
The largest room in the house is the Master Suite. A long vaulted ceiling room with plush carpets and a large walk in closet and huge master bath attached. The rich ebony glazed bedroom set anchors the room and is a stark contrast to the light bedding, art, white table lamp and accessories.
Coastal Bedroom Decor
With the coastal trend being so strong I chose a more sophisticated approach with muted sea foam green, light blues, grays, creams and beiges. The Nicole Miller paisley comforter set was my first purchase and I drew color accents and inspiration from this luxury set. All cotton pillow cases in gray, large beige down filled Ralph Lauren accent pillows, and a crocheted throw blanket layered make this super comfortable and inviting. A collection of mercury glass, shell covered storage boxes, and coral art flank both sides of the bed. A leather pleated ottoman with tray adds to room’s look and adds extra seating for the dressing room.
A Sold Sign
Often the new homeowners ask the builder if they can purchase the furniture that is in the house. I’m sure this home won’t be in the market for long and then I’ll be off to stage the next model! Decorating a bedroom is my favorite! Now I’m off to my next model.
